BOB

I want to announce the newest member of the Bradford Bunch...Bob the kitten.

John's office took in a beautiful stray calico which we very quickly discovered was pregnant.  About 3 weeks later she had 4 precious babies, 2 gray and 2 tan, which the twins named Sam, Sarah, Tina, and Bob.  I have to admit that I was initially drawn to Tina until Bob won my heart by being a sweet snuggle bug.  After LOTS of convincing, John gave in and I have my new baby.  He LOVES me and is such a sweet pea!!

Quick Trip

Last weekend John and I decided, very spontaneously I must add, to take a day trip up to the mountains.  We piled all the kids in the car and drove 2 hours to Maggie Valley to check out the leaves, enjoy the beautiful fall day, and (John's favorite part) look at some real estate.  We stopped at a country store for some local apples, honey, blackberry jam, and cabbage.  We also had a moment that my Daddy would have been SO proud to witness...all 4 of my kids devouring 2 bags of boiled peanuts...YUMMY...thanks Peanut King.  Jack told the "King of Peanuts" that he makes the best boiled peanuts in the world.  We grabbed lunch at a cute BBQ place and headed back home.  It was nice to have a day with just the 6 of us.  We have missed Daddy (John) so much over the past 2 months while he was busy with the Haunted House.  It was great family time...we needed it badly!

Macy Monet?

My Macy is turning out to be quite the little artist.  Check out the picture of John and I that she drew on a mini magnadoodle.  Natural talent...don't you agree?

Halloween 2010

Halloween is so not my favorite holiday...that's how I've always felt; however, this year was not quite as bad as usual.  Jack took off with a buddy and all 3 girls walked, carried their own loot, said their own "Trick-Or-Treats," and had a fantastical time.  I actually got to mosey around with them without stress...WOW!  For school's "Parade of Fiction" this year Jack went as Flat Stanley and Molls was Alice In Wonderland...super cute.  For the big night Jack was the "Scream" ghost (not my first choice), Molly was Princess Tiana, Sophie was Barbie (from Fashion Fairytale), and Macy was Snow White.  Have I mentioned how sick I am of Princesses?  But they were the cutest princesses I've ever seen!

Seriously???

So, I pull up to preschool carpool today to pick up Sophie and Macy and as soon as I get out of the car I hear Macy screaming bloody murder.  I go to her and wonderful Ms. Debbie tells me that she shoved something up her nose.  It is something hard, plastic, pink, and is lodged vertically up in Macy's nose.  Freaking out that I'm going to have to spend my entire afternoon in the ER waiting for a doctor to use tweezers to yank something out of my daughter's nose, I have Ms. Debbie hold Macy down and I literally stuck my finger up her nose and dug the offending foreign body out of her nose (it took 3 or 4 tries while she was screaming as if I was amputating her hand)!!

This is what I find in her nose perilously close to invading her brain and destroying all her smarts...

It is the plastic zipper tab from her envelope she carries to and from school.  She tells me, "I bite it off my folder and put it in my nose!"  When asked why she responded, "Cause why."  Okay...so maybe not a whole lot of smarts to start with  :)  Just kidding, the girl is brilliant and rest assured she learned her lesson.

Oh, and if you are concerned about the state of her nose she will tell you, "My nose, it fine, it okay!"

She is such a stinker...but such a cute stinker!!

Oopsy Daisy

Seriously, this cuteness really happened.  I did not stage the adorableness of this photo.  Macy walked in the door, stumbled backwards, and landed folded up like a pretzel in the box.  She giggled liked I've never heard her giggle before!!  :)

Jack and Molly

I'm Slack...I Know

So it has been over a month since I was on here!  I completely did not realize that much time had passed.  We are completely immersed into school, religious ed classes, tennis, dance, cub scouts and all that comes along with those.  We are very busy and I guess that makes time fly by at an alarming pace.  Christmas is just around the corner....anyway we have and a few new happenings around our crazy house.

Jack has started Cub Scouts and absolutely loves everything about it!  He and John had their first camp out last weekend and John came home as the new Den leader...imagine that...my husband volunteering for another thing!  He had to take an all-day training seminar yesterday where he learned lots of chants, songs, rules, and how to lead an interesting hike and how to make and bake in a box oven.    I'm most excited about seeing my handsome hubby in a uniform...heehee...now he and Jack will both look like Beaver Cleaver!  Jack is hot and heavy back into tennis...practicing 6 + hours a week and playing in league matches on Sundays.  Little dude is only 7 years old and is getting good.  I'm as excited to watch him as he is to play.  We did have our first tennis catastrophe last week.  As Jack was serving, his $100 tennis racket flew out of his hand and smacked the ground cracking the racket through.  John and I both agreed we couldn't be angry since he was serving and not goofing off but DANG!!  My mom made a great point when she said he could pay us back when he wins Wimbledon  :)

Miss Molly is loving school and has made tons of new friends...quite a few of the boy type : )  She received her first love note full of colorful hand drawn hearts on the 2nd week of school.  We are gonna have to keep this one on a tight leash as she gets older...she is so stinking pretty!  To add to her adorableness, she had to get glasses this past week.  As most of you know she had eye surgery at 18 months to correct "lazy eye."  Since then I would notice her right eye turn in when she was tired or crying.  I have been noticing it turning more frequently in the past couple of months so I took her to the eye doctor.  She now is at the "peak" of the farsightedness that all kids have, but because her eyes have a predisposition to turn in anyway, they are doing so as she tries to focus.  The doctor predicted that she would need them until about 9 or 10 years old, but seeing as my whole family and John are as blind as bats I won't be surprised if she never outgrows her need for ocular assistance  :)  (did you like that fancy term...I thought it was pretty impressive)  ;)  I have pictures of her in the glasses but they are on my phone and I don't know how to get them off.  I'll post pics of all the kids soon!

Sophie and Macy are funny and happy.  They LOVE school, dance class, and have starting composing original operas!  Macy continues to have not one shy bone in her body and will perform for anyone she can make eye contact with.  The flip side of this outgoingness is that she will tell people exactly what is on her mind no matter if it is appropriate or not!  A couple of examples are her telling Jack's tough tennis coach "Coach Billy, you have a big head!" and telling a heavy-set cashier at Harris Teeter "You're a big, giant girl!"  Luckily both people were very sweet about it and found Macy to be utterly cute so no harm was done I suppose (other than Mommy being COMPLETELY MORTIFIED)!  We had lots of talks about what is nice and not nice to say to people :)

Speaking of lots of talks...about 2 weeks into school, Sophie went through a week long phase of pinching her friends at school (it was actually 1 little boy who my mom was convinced was starting it...thanks for your confidence in my baby girl mom but I'm sure it was SOPHIE :) ).  After talking to her CONSTANTLY about not pinching her friends (even whispering in her ear as I was dropping her off "no pinching today")  the pinching stopped, but I think I scarred her for life.  It has been weeks and every day when I pick the girls up Sophie runs out the door and exclaims "Mommy, I no pinch today!!"  I told her she didn't have to say that because I know she is a good girl and why didn't she say "Mommy I missed you today!" instead but sadly no...she still tells me everyday that she didn't pinch and I'm sure it will happen every day until the end of the year.  I certainly learned my lesson and will "back off" next time and let Ms. Debbie handle it.  I just didn't want my kid to be the "bad kid" in class!  But as I told John, with 4 kids, the odds that 1 of them will be "that kid" are pretty high :)

John has been ridiculously busy at work and planning / constructing a haunted house from the ground up with Uncle Mark.  Park Avenue Properties is starting a Haunted House this year to benefit local animal shelters.  Check out the website http://www.hauntedhouselkn.com/

As for me, I'm beyond busy with work, kids and their stuff, husband and his stuff, trying to figure out when I'm going to train for this 1/2 marathon (what was I thinking), etc.  But when I think about how this year started out I am so thankful that I am here and busy and healthy and that my family is happy and healthy and growing...life is crazy good  ;)

The Cuteness That Is Macy

1st Day of School

My personal goal for this school year is to not put myself in positions where I end up being rushed, so this morning I successfully got up and got myself and 3 of my kids ready for school and out the door by 7:45 without batting an eye...YEAH for me!!  Now Thursday will be the true test when I have to get all 4 of them ready but I have faith...I can do it!!  Well anyway, today Jack my sweet, handsome baby boy started 2nd grade.  Molly my dramatic, beautiful baby girl started kindergarten. Sophie & Macy my crazy, cute littlest baby girls started preschool.  I have to admit I was quite emotional.  Molly didn't have to be there until 11 so she got to chill this morning.  I however dropped Sophie and Macy off at 8...Macy was a bit shy but they both did great...I cried.  Ms. Debbie said that they interrupt each other a lot...yeah I've noticed that too!  :)  When I picked the girls up I asked them how school was and Sophie replied "Mommy, I wub it!"  Too stinkin' sweet...I cried!  After dropping off the girls I dropped Jack off at his classroom.  He had lots of his buddies with him and was excited...I cried!  I then worked a bit, ran back to pick up the girls, took them home, picked up Molly and took her to her class.  At our school the kindergartners come for only 1 hour on the first day and parents get to stay with them...I still cried even though I was with her the whole time!  Oh well!  The general consensus is that everyone had a GREAT time and can't wait to go back tomorrow!  It doesn't hurt that they go to the BEST school on the planet either!!

1st day of school breakfast...Lucky Charms...yeah man!

Bradford Beach Blast 2010

At the end of July, Jack and Molly got to take a very special week-long trip to Myrtle Beach to stay with Grammy and Grampy at their house.  Cousins Thomas and Daniel were there too and the kids had a fabulous week of beach, pool (Grammy and Grampy had one installed right before this trip), movies, pier fishing, games, crabbing, city bus rides, and restaurants.  They had a ball and did not want to come home at the end of the week.  We actually started the week in Virginia where we met Grammy and Grampy, Aunt Christina, Uncle John, Thomas and Daniel for a weekend camping trip where we swam, took walks, roasted marshmallows, spotted turtles and turkeys, and had sleepovers in the cabins.  Jack and Molly really enjoyed Thomas and Daniel and can't wait to see them again.  The kids are definitely excited about Bradford Beach Blast 2011 and so are John and I because next summer Sophie and Macy get to go too!!!  John and I are already planning what we will do with ALL the kid free time!!

Unfortunately my camera was out of commission during this trip...broken lens mechanism or something of the sort...so I don't have any pictures.  I'll get some from Aunt Christina and post them soon!!

More Summer Fun

The summer of 2010 has flown by much faster than I care to say...where did it go?  At the beginning of summer we purchased a new camper...big 26 footer with beds for everyone and a brand new toilet that nobody had EVER used before us!!  We used that camper quite a bit this summer and it has turned out to be PERFECT!  We decided to take one last summer camping trip to the mountains in Ashville and we camped at a little campground right on the banks of the French Broad River.  We had a wonderful time swimming in the river (except the tubing excursion with Molly and Sophie in my lap and my butt ramming the rocks on the bottom of the river), eating, making new friends, catching butterflies, and "adventures" into the little towns around us.  We actually had a WONDERFUL dinner in Weaverville at The Blue Mountain Pizza Cafe...if you ever find yourself in Weaverville, NC check it out!  We will continue to camp throughout the year but it was sad knowing that this was the last of the summer!
